Périples - Photis Ionatos

Cette approche personnelle en treize titres retrace l’univers artistique de Photis Ionatos depuis le début de sa carrière. De nouvelles compositions figurent dans cet album : un total de six chansons, écrites sur des textes du poète Grec Aki Roukas, qui correspondent et s’accordent parfaitement aux critères esthétiques actuels du compositeur. Les huit autres chants ont fait l’objet d’enregistrements antérieurs et ont trouvé leur place dans ce « périple ». En effet, leur valeur poétique reste intacte et la raison qui justifie leur présence est non seulement l’intemporalité de leur propos, l’interprétation de l’artiste et leur re-actualisation, mais aussi l’apport et la qualité des musiciens qui y ont contribué avec tout leur talent et réussi à leur insuffler une nouvelle existence. Cet album résume et clôture un cycle poétique et musical qui a toujours été au centre de la création artistique de Photis Ionatos, c’est- à- dire arriver le plus lentement possible, tel un Ulysse moderne, à Ithaque, puisque la raison, la justification et le véritable but du « périple » est par définition et sans conteste, le voyage.

Within a personal approach, the 13 songs recount the artistic universe of Photis Ionatos from the beginning of his career. New compositions take part of this new album: 6 songs are based on writings of the Greek poet Aki Roukas, which are in great harmony and perfectly matching with the current esthetical criteria of the composer. The 8 other songs have already been recorded but took place in this “journey” because their poetical value remains undamaged and many aspects are justifying their presence: not only the timelessness of the words, the artist interpretation and the updating of the songs, but also the contribution and quality of the musicians who collaborate with all their talent and who succeed to breathe life into it and to give those songs a new existence. This album summarizes and finalizes a poetical and musical cycle which has always been at the hearth of Photis Ionatos’s artistic creation, which means in other words, to reach Ithaque, as slowest as possible, as a modern Ulysses, since the reason, the explanation and the real aim of the “journey” is by definition and without any doubt, the travel himself.

Deze persoonlijke benadering in dertien nummers is kenmerkend voor het artistieke universum van Photis Ionatos sinds het begin van zijn muzikale loopbaan. Dit album bevat nieuwe liederen: zes composities, geschreven op teksten van de Griekse dichter Aki Roukas, die perfect aansluiten bij de huidige, esthetische criteria van de componist. De acht andere liederen werden vroeger opgenomen en hebben nu hun plaats gevonden in deze "périple - omzwerving". Inderdaad, hun poëtische waarde blijft intact en de reden die hun aanwezigheid op deze cd rechtvaardigt is niet alleen het tijdloze van hun boodschap, de interpretatie van de kunstenaar en het opnieuw actualiseren ervan, maar ook de bijdrage en kwaliteit van de muzikanten die met al hun talent deze liederen een nieuw leven hebben ingeblazen. Dit album is het sluitstuk van een poëtische en muzikale cyclus die altijd centraal heeft gestaan in het artistieke oeuvre van Photis Ionatos: het zo zacht mogelijk aankomen, zoals een moderne Odysseus, op Ithaca, omdat de reden, de rechtvaardiging en de echte bedoeling van deze "omzwerving" per definitie en ontegensprekelijk de reis zelf is.
