Profitant d’une période d’inactivité de son groupe Ambrozijn, Tom Theuns a navigué pendant un an avec sa péniche « l’Aurelia Feria » (qui contient une salle de concert) en Belgique et France. Chanter, jouer de la guitare et donner des concerts pendant des mois sur des rivières comme l’Escaut, la Dendre, la Meuse, l’Oise et la Seine a donné naissance à ce disque « Songs from the River », témoin d’une certaine solitude. Au fil des chansons, les impressions de cette aventure sur l’eau coulent ou découlent de la musique et des mots. Avec ce son si particulier de la guitare en « fingerpicking », les chansons se baladent sur les chemins du folk, blues, jazz et musique africaine. Après avoir collaboré pendant 20 ans avec des musiciens venus des quatre coins du monde, Tom Theuns nous offre un album de grande maturité.

With his sideprojects being kept a low profile, Tom Theuns had been taken a year advantage of this by navigating his M.S. Aurelia Feria (containing a concerthall) throughout Belgium and France. Staying for months on end on rivers like the Schelde, the Dender, The Meuse, The Oise and The Seine, he found himself eventually in a almost trance-like state. From this solitude singing, playing guitar and giving concerts all along, these songs arose naturally, giving pure impressions of this adventure. Backed by a unique style of fingerpicking guitar, the songs are wandering selfconsciously on the roads of folk, blues, jazz and african music. A logical creative step after 20 years of collaborations with musicians from throughout the world.
