Une voix, une guitare et le ton est donné. Des cordes, métalliques, nylon ou vocales : l’album s’appellera donc « Crossing the Strings ». Cordes pour hisser, tracter, amarrer, unir… mais aussi hélas pour entraver, blesser… espoirs, joies, unions, séparations, création, destruction… Chansons pour dire ces choses, pour rêver à d’autres choses, pour vivre. Chansons intimistes, dépouillées, légères mais pas futiles. C’est un recueil de mélodies à la croisée des chemins verts du folk européen, des routes boueuses où transitent les roulottes manouches, des voies séculaires de la musique baroque occidentale, et des grands axes du blues afro-américain.

Second solo album, a trip to “Melodyland”. It all begins with a voice, a guitar and a songwriter. Steel strings, nylon strings, vocal cords... Plain and simple songs at the crossroads of folk, blues and pop. Melody is the keynote. Songs about love, life and death, hometown, laziness, childhood days.... Some tunes are low-key, in a “close to the bone” form, some others offer subtle arrangements: small choir, cello, violin, flute, mandolin, double bass and drums, always “close to the song“. Leo’s ancient projects: “Where Is China?” (a post-new wave band), “Glasnotes” (a blend of rock, funk and jazz), “Peter & The Lions”(his first pop project), “Sing Sing” (an a capella quartet in french with a touch of ironic wit).

Tweede soloalbum, een trip naar “Melodieland”. Het begon allemaal met een stem, een gitaar en een liedjesschrijver. Stalen snaren, nylon snaren, gouden stembanden... Eenvoudige, sobere songs op het raakvlak tussen folk, blues en pop. De melodie, daar gaat het om. Songs over liefde, leven en dood, geboorteplaats, luiheid, kinderjaren.... Sommige melodieën zijn ingehouden, op het pijnlijke af, andere baden in subtiele arrangementen: koortje, cello, viool, fluit, mandoline, double bass en drums, altijd “kort op de song“. Leo’s vroegere projecten: “Where Is China?” (een post-new wave band), “Glasnotes” (een mix van rock, funk en jazz), “Peter & The Lions”(zijn eerste pop-project), “Sing Sing” (een a capella kwartet in het Frans met een vleugje komische ironie).
