In 2009 Afra Mussawisade joined the Band Sikeda to perform and record the music of Jeroen van Vliet at the North Sea Jazzfestival. During the follow up tour of Sikeda and countless other performances with different projects they felt the urge to take an own musical path where both express their view in a dialogue. That's when the plan emerged to record an album with just piano, percussion and some electronics. When they met in the studio for this album, there were some sketches of compositions as well as a lot of ideas to experiment with. Recording the music in Liège was a great joy and adventure, they enhanced their musical language to play together and create expresive pieces.
Both Afra and Jeroen had worked with clarinettist Kinan Azmeh, and when the music grew it was a mutual desire to invite Kinan to join on some pieces. The music reflects the best of 3 worlds, Kinan's soulful playing adds to the harmonic richness of Jeroen's music and the colourful palette of Afra's grooving percussion.
