Jens Bouttery (°15/09/1988, Oostduinkerke, Belgium) started off a musical and theatrical career in academies at the Belgian seaside. He finished his Master Degree jazzdrums at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels with Toots Thielemans Jazz Award-winning project “The Dubtapes”: a collaboration with filmmaker Daan Milius played by the Jens Maurits Orchestra. Jens also won the title for best solo player at the Brussel Jazz Marathon XLJazz Contest 2011.Jens played and composed for theatre productions such as “Kamp Jezus”, “Rail Gourmet” and “Detroit Dealers” by theatre collective Wunderbaum, “Romeo & Julia” by Het Paleis, “Hete Tenen” with his sister actress Lise Bouttery and “Concerto” by performance artist Ivo Dimchev.He created soundtracks for films as “Lollo gaat op reis” by Daan Milius and the multiple award-winning “Misschien Later” by Moon Blaisse.Other current bands and projects are Les Chroniques de l’Inutile, Blue Monday People & The Spirit Children, Nicolas Kummert’s Voices and Roman & Maurits.At the new festival STORM! 2013 in Ostend, Jens curated together with Lander Gyselinck. They created a drumduet spectacle called “Sandy”.Currently Jens is playing with the new project “Triggers & Thresholds” of his Jens Maurits Orchestra. He’s also working on a new piece with Wunderbaum and the new short-film of Moon Blaisse.
