Stephan Pougin

In his life-time career drummer and percussionist Stephan Pougin has worked and shared the scene with numerous artists such as Aurélia, Tuur Floorizone, Zefiro Torna, Mikis Théodorakis, Pirly Zustrassen, Panta Rhei, Steve Houben, Greg Houben, Jacques Pirotton, Après un rêve, La Cetra D’Orfeo,Rêve d’Eléphant Orchestra, Zongora, Al Orkesta,…

That’s when he has two years old, he has started his initation of the music, through the father influence. His musical carreer had making blossom over the years because of any teachers as Louis Marceau, Francis Leroy at Etterbeek academy where he got the government medal in drums. He had perfectionating later through others significant names (Georges-Elie Octors, Bob Van Sice, Didier Labarre, Antoine Cirri, Billy Hart,…).

With already 50 albums recorded, his sensitive acoustic style varies from African, Balkan or Brasilian world music to different jazz collaborations with musicians like Steve Houben, Jacques Pirotton, Michaël Grebil, Marito Correa, Michel Herr,… All of which make him difficult to place in a box. His differents inspirations make him into a musician generous with an unique style: pleasant and sensual, giving us a breath comed from Africa, Balkans or Brasil.

His currently projects are a new album with Rêve d’Elephant Orchestra and a trio with Jacques Pirotton and Boris Schmidt.

Au cours de sa carrière, Stephan Pougin a collaboré et partagé la scène avec de nombreuses formations et une multitude d’artistes dont: Aurélia, Tuur Floorizone, Zefiro Torna, Mikis Théodorakis, Pirly Zustrassen, Panta Rhei, Steve Houben, Greg Houben, Jacques Pirotton, Après un rêve, La Cetra D’Orfeo,Rêve d’Eléphant Orchestra, Zongora, Al Orkesta,…

Un parcours recensant plus d’une cinquantaine d’albums et reflétant la curiosité acoustique d’un percussionniste captivant et qui éveille nos sens.
C’est à l’âge de 2ans que débute son initiation à la musique, à travers l’influence de son père. Son parcours musical s’épanouira au fil des années grâce à différents professeurs tels que Louis Marceau, Francis Leroy à l’académie d’Etterbeek où il obtint la médaille du gouvernement en percussions. Il se perfectionna par la suite avec d’autres grands noms (Georges-Elie Octors, Bob Van Sice, Didier Labarre, Antoine Cirri, Billy Hart,…)

C’est un musicien ayant façonné son expérience à travers des rencontres avec des artistes tels que Steve Houben, Jacques Pirotton, Michaël Grebil, Marito Correa, Michel Herr,…et dont l’alliance le poussera à atteindre le firmament de ses sens.
Ses différentes inspirations font de lui un musicien généreux au style unique: attrayant et sensuel, nous donnant à l’occasion un souffle venu d’Afrique, des Balkans ou encore du Brésil.
Il n’entre en effet dans aucun paradigme, passant du jazz au classique et du folk à la Bossa Nova.

Ses projets actuels sont composés d’un nouvel album avec Rêve d’Elephant Orchestra et d’un trio avec Jacques Pirotton et Boris Schmidt.
